Pastor Johnny Henderson serves as our Senior Pastor. Pastor Johnny has served the Lord in over 30 years of ministry and has been pastor of CRBC since September 1999. Pastor Johnny oversees all missions and ministry programs of the church, and in particular, the Bible teaching and preaching ministry. He has participated in many ministry and missions projects in a statewide, national and international context. Pastor Johnny has served on the boards of many ministries such as the BCM International Ministries, North Carolina Baptist Men, Prison Fellowship, Hank Williams Evangelistic Association, Jesse Crook Ministries, and others. He has also served on the General Board of the Baptist State Convention. Johnny is married to Renea and has three daughters Adrienne, Danielle and Elizabeth and eight grandchildren.
Rev. Mitch Duncan, Minister of Music and Discipleship
Mitch Duncan and his wife, Carol, came to serve at Cross Road Baptist Church in June 2018. Married for almost 24 years, they love their cats like children. They met while studying at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where Mitch earned a Master of Church Music and Carol earned a Master of Christian Education. They have served churches together in Kentucky during their seminary years, in the Charlotte area for 17 years, and for a brief time in Tennessee. Both love serving the Lord with God's people, fellowship time with family and friends, playing disc golf, and laughing with (and at) one another. Mitch enjoys writing songs and sharing God's Word through music and teaching, and Carol enjoys reading, cooking and cross stitch.
Travis Suttles, Minister to Students, College & Young Professionals
Travis Suttles joined the staff of Cross Road Baptist Church as the Associate Minister to Students in January 2016. Travis has been an active member of the CRBC church family beginning as a child participating in the AWANA program then transitioning into the Aftershock Student Ministry and Revive85 Young Professional Ministry. During his time in High School, Travis served as a leader in the AWANA program, participated in numerous mission trips, and volunteered in service projects in the community. Travis served two summers as a Student Ministry Intern at Cross Road and has served year-round as an Aftershock Leader and Middle school Sunday school teacher. After High School, Travis attended RCC then later transferred to the College at Southeastern on the campus of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) in Wake Forest, NC. He will graduate in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies with a minor in Student Ministry. Travis plans to begin his seminary training at SEBTS after graduation. Travis is married to Tamika.
Cheryl Surratt, Ministry Administrative Assistant
Cheryl Surratt serves as Ministry Administrator Assistant at Cross Road Baptist Church. She joined the staff in March 2016. Cheryl has grown up in the church since she moved to North Carolina in 1982. Her husband Randy joined her as a member in 1992. As Ministry Administrative Assistant, Cheryl is responsible for the day-to-day church office duties. This includes the weekly church bulletin and monthly news-letter, correspondence, and financial records, as well as other miscellaneous details. Cheryl and Randy have three children; Kayla, Cameron and Evie.
Laura Gillispie, Director of Children's Ministries
Laura Gillispie serves as our Director of Children's Ministries. She has been involved in ministry to children for over 30 years. Laura has taught in a local Christian school for more than 26 years making a tremendous impact on children and their families. Laura looks forward to seeing how God uses each young life.
